the why and how
Why am I getting so anxious, when you're smiling like you always do?
Ah, yes, the cracktard reason why i'm so in love with May Wong. I might be hit for saying this, but I loved her at first sight. Back in 2005, I used her for several layouts on my domain,
Wind-charmer.net, and since then, i've been loyal to May. I could've cared less if she beat down my favorite girl, Sora, because there was something about her that I was very interested in. I like her competitive spirit - something that makes her outshine other characters. Everyone has a reason why they perform, and I really like May's style. I understand that kind of spirit, because i'm similar to her in a sense. I can see things from her standpoint, and not many people can really "feel" May as a positive character. I think someone widely disliked deserves more than the attention of haters. It's just like me to stand up for the underdog, eh? Her appearance is very cute too. She reminds me alot of
Meiling from Cardcaptor Sakura - who was one of my favorite anime characters as a child. I'm always interested in the "rival", no matter what the series. The rivals need to be stuck up for too instead of being claimed as the "stealer of the main characters lover!!11" or "pointless!!1" because they weren't made for that reason. I love the way she also boldly states what she wants, and how she feels of them. It's like ... she doesn't fear the fact people
will dislike her. She doesn't fear being disliked or hated, as long as she can feel satisfied with herself. That kind of feeling is very rare in Kaleido Star, because
everyone wants to be liked some way or another. I just find her a really cool thing to examine, you know? Haha.
Site title, "DEAR LONELY GIRL" Well, I originally named this site "Ice fairy" because I simply had nothing to relate to May before. I didn't have song, nor a thought of how I should've named it, so Ice fairy had to fit. It was Meryl's nickname for her, after all. She was the champion of ice, but I though, somehow, that doesn't fit so well, since she left her skating career behind for Kaleido Stage. "Dear Lonely Girl" is a very meaningful, sad song by
Miliyah Kato, a popular J-urban singer. I used this song to make icons of May once upon a time, so I thought, "Why not?" -- because May
is a lonely girl, if you think about it. The lyrics to this song contradict eachother, but you can easily tell it's about being a loner, even by the title itself. There's some specific lines:
Don't analyze it so simply, Don't look at me like you get it. No matter how much you talk to me, I'm not satisfied, lonely girl. Lonely girl, its not that I'm lonely. Lonely girl, I just like being by myself. Lonely girl, I'm not crying. All apply to how May feels about the people around her. I thought it was also kind of cute, too. The song itself is sort of catchy, but still slow for a j-urban/pop song.
